August IRB Announcements
August 16, 2023
Hello everyone and welcome back to campus! Please see the following important announcements:
IRB Educational Workshop Series
The OIRB will be hosting its free online workshops series starting this month on 8/30/23 from 10-11am. The first workshop’s topic is Submitting to the IRB. All are welcome to join; access the Zoom link on the Events page. Please see the attached flyer for a list of upcoming workshops.
Streamlyne Technical Support
UNM recently launched the Streamlyne Support portal (see below). Please note that this support portal is only intended for technical support issues in Streamlyne (e.g. errors, inability to login or access pages, etc.). If you have IRB specific questions or require assistance with preparing your submission, please contact the OIRB at irbmaincampus@unm.edu or request a consultation with one of our staff.
IRB Review Turnaround Times
It is that time of year when we get calls from researchers asking if their amendments can be approved in two days. 😊 Please be reminded that the UNM IRB oversees over 500 active research studies and we receive 60+ submissions per month. These are reviewed on a first received, first served basis. The average review and approval time when submitting a New Protocol or Amendment to the IRB is 30 days. Please plan ahead and submit early!
Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Certification
RCR training is required for individuals funded by NSF, NIH (trainees, fellows, participants, and scholars receiving support through any NIH training, career development award, research education grant, or dissertation research grant) and USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and is strongly encouraged for all UNM research faculty, students, staff and postdoctoral fellows. The Office of Research Integrity and Compliance (ORIC) and the OVPR are currently creating an educational program that meets RCR certification requirements. The new RCR Certification website and associated training plan will be available soon. A special announcement will be distributed through a variety of University listservs. Stay tuned!!
