Please note that effective today, 1/19/2018, the UNM IRB no longer requires IRB review of project team changes for approved projects. Project Team forms will continue to be required upon initial review and CITI and Conflict of Interest (COI) will be verified accordingly. However, after initial approval of a project, it is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator (PI) to track changes to the project team and to verify current human research protections training and COI disclosure status for each individual. The UNM OIRB has developed tools to assist with this including a CITI COI Tracking instruction sheet and a CITI-COI Tracking Log which are available in the IRB Library.
We strongly encourage PIs to use these tools. The UNM IRB retains the right monitor project teams and this will be done by the OIRB through random requests to PIs to submit project team forms and CITI certificates for administrative review. Please be reminded that any person who interacts with individuals for the purpose of research, who have access to private identifiable information, and/or are the PI of Record for a student project are considered part of the project team. Project team members must have current (every 3 years) human research protections training and an annual COI disclosure on file with the UNM Conflict of Interest office.
