Recruitment Templates

Based on requests from the research community, the OIRB has developed recruitment template documents that can be used by study teams to create study specific recruitment materials including flyers, emails, and phone scripts.  These and more are available in the IRB Library.

OIRB Fall Workshop Series

The OIRB fall workshop series have been scheduled in September through November.  These workshops cover a plethora of important information about IRB submission and review including IRB regulations, submission elements, writing an IRB protocol and consent form and navigating the IRBNet submission database.  Space is limited so reserve your space today by emailing us at IRBMainCampus@unm.edu and include which workshops you would like to attend!

New Submission Forms now available

As part of our effort to streamline the IRB review process and incorporate flexibility into the regulations (e.g. longer approval periods, additional exemption categories) we have updated our submission forms to enable our office to appropriately categorize studies based on the funding source.  In order to take advantage of these new processes, it is important to ALWAYS use the most current version of the forms.  All forms are available in the IRB Library.

A couple of the forms for your reference:

  • Continuing Review Application (version 8/1/16), which now includes information regarding new or changes in funding source as well as a question about the occurrence of protocol deviations since last IRB review (a separate Protocol Deviations Report now only needs to be submitted when deviations occur).
  • IRB Submission Checklist (version 8/1/16) which includes updated links and instructions on submitting packages to the IRB.

Change to Response Time Deadline

Previously, the OIRB has allowed up to 45 days for researchers to provide responses to pre-review comments and IRB requests for modifications.  In order to decrease approval times and increase efficiency, we are changing this to a 30-day response deadline.  Beginning September 1, 2016, the PI/SI will have 30 days to respond to an inquiry or request for modifications.  If not received within 30 days, the submission will be withdrawn from IRB review.

As always, please feel free to contact our office with any questions or concerns about human research compliance.

Have a great fall semester!
